SWAG engages Volta Regional Minister to boost sports development

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) in the Volta Region, led by Chairman Eric Eli Adzie, has paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu.

The visit aimed to congratulate the Minister on his appointment and discuss potential areas of collaboration, particularly in promoting sports development in the Volta Region.

During the meeting, SWAG-Volta/Oti commended the Minister for his swift response to critical regional concerns, including the water shortage, disturbances at Sokode Senior High School, and the tidal waves issue at Agavedzi.

Chairman Adzie expressed confidence in the Minister’s proactive support for sports, citing his donation to the National Sports Authority and the initiation of the Volta Regional Minister’s Cup. He also praised him for testing the operational readiness of the Youth Resource Centre.

Hon. James Gunu acknowledged the importance of sports writers in the region, their contribution to sports development, and the need for balanced reportage. He promised to meet SWAG in two weeks for a breakfast meeting to gather ideas for advancing sports in the region.

The Minister also assured the association of his commitment to supporting sports development in the Volta Region.
