“Introduce Electoral Area Common Funds to Accelerate Development” – Dzodze Urban Council Chair to Government

Hon. Christian Kwaku Tornyo, the Dzodze Urban Council Chairman who doubles as the Assembly Member for Ablame Electoral Area in the Ketu North Municipality, has called on government to create funds for every electoral area in the country to speed-up development.

He disclosed this in an exclusive interview with SandCity Radio’s Kekeli Blamey, and indicating that most electoral areas do not benefit from funds allocated by government to the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the country.

“Government always do the needful to support every district with funds. But the question is whether all the electoral areas benefit from it equally as supposed.” He quizzed.

He added that ‘’greater part of these monies are used to equip some electoral areas with projects and leaving others. This results to situations where some electoral areas feel left-out in terms of development.’’

Hon. Tornyo therefore appealed to the government to initiate measures and make provisions in terms of funds to the various electoral areas in the country.

He explained that the assembly members in the country are those who can identify the need of their areas thus the urge to introduce an Electoral Common Fund which would be used by the various assembly members to sort out the needs of their electoral areas.

Hon. Tornyo therefore called on all Assembly Members in the country to support and push this initiative so as get government’s attention toward development of the many electoral areas in the country.
