Keta Residents Demand Answers from ECG Over Persistent Power Outages

Residents of Keta in the Volta Region are demanding an explanation from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over frequent power outages that have disrupted businesses, homes, and essential services. The community has been experiencing unstable electricity supply for weeks, leading to growing frustration and concerns about economic and social impacts.

According to residents, the erratic power supply has affected small businesses, particularly cold store operators, welders, and other entrepreneurs who rely on electricity for their livelihoods. Students preparing for exams have also expressed distress over the unreliable power supply, which disrupts their studies.

Speaking on the issue, some community leaders have urged ECG to provide a clear explanation for the persistent blackouts and outline measures to restore stable electricity. “We need transparency from ECG. The power cuts are unbearable, and businesses are suffering,” a concerned resident stated.

The residents are calling on ECG to not only address the outages but also establish a long-term solution to ensure a reliable electricity supply in Keta. As frustrations mount, community members have hinted at possible demonstrations if ECG fails to act swiftly. Meanwhile, ECG has yet to officially respond to the concerns raised by the affected residents.
