Klefe Roads are not for “wee smoking” – Dr. Letsa Pleads with Youth

The Volta Regional Minister Hon. Dr. Achibald Yao Letsa has cautioned youth of Klefe and its adjoining communities to deceased from using the various roads in the area as “wee smoking” bases.

His caution came when addressing Chiefs and the People of Klefe traditional area during their 2022 Yam festival celebrations which also marked the 10th anniversary of the enstoolment of the Togbe Koku Dzaga XI, Paramount Chief of Klefe Traditional Area in the Ho Municipality of the Volta region:

This year’s annual celebration was on theme; “Community and Central Government Partnership; A Necessary Collaboration for Holistic Education” aimed at achieving the sustainable development goals (SDG) 4.3 which focuses on equal access to affordable quality technical vocational education.

This is expected to increase the number of youths and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.

The Minister who is also a son of the land was responding to a call made by the Member of Parliament for Ho central constituency Hon. Benjamin Komla Kpodo on the deplorable nature of roads from Kpenoe, Takla, Hordzo through to Tokokoe Communities.

Ho Central Law Maker charged the Regional Minister to do something about the said roads as the representative of the president in the region as matter of urgency.

He also called on him to fix these roads and many others in the Ho Municipality.

The regional Minister however assured that the roads will be fixed in due course since there are plans towards the barracks to Kpenoe, Takla Hordzo to Tokokoe roads.

He disclosed that the delay was due to some challenges that brought about some misunderstanding between the contractor and some people in the area but once they are resolved work will be done.

Dr. Letsa again also mentioned that roads from Klefe to Akrofu and  Klefe Demete to Hoviefe roads will be constructed to aid economic activities in the area.

Later in an interview, Hon. Benjamin Komla Kpodo alleged that, the contractor working on site abandoned the project due to government failure to pay them.

Mr. Kpodo further revealed that he, together with some Chiefs from the community, pursued the payment to the office of the sector minister.

He promised to continue putting pressure on the Minster and other parties involved until something is done to improve the road network in the community.
