New transformer commissioned at Sogakofe Substation to ease load, stabilise Power

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), in partnership with GRIDCo, has commissioned a new 10/13 MVA transformer at the Sogakofe Substation in the South Tongu District to strengthen power supply across the Volta Region.

Operational since May 7, the transformer now serves Sogakofe, Akatsi, and nearby communities, complementing an existing 15 MVA unit that continues to supply Adidome, Keta, and surrounding areas.

According to the ECG, the upgrade is aimed at easing the load on the existing infrastructure and improving supply reliability.

Volta Regional General Manager, Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, described the project as a critical step in the company’s ongoing efforts to modernise its network and ensure stable electricity across key districts.

She urged customers to support ECG’s service improvement initiatives by promptly paying their bills, emphasising that collective responsibility is key to sustaining reliable power in the region.

“It is going to improve the flexibility and reliability of supply so that when we have a challenge on one, we can switch to the other. We want to appeal to our customers to pay their bills so that we will be more flexible to embark on more projects to improve the service,” she assured.
