NPP heads to UPSA for all-white 30th anniv. thanksgiving

Notable stalwarts of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, July 31 for the National Thanksgiving Service to mark 30 years since establishment.

Activities to mark the ruling party’s 30th anniversary began last Friday with a National Muslim Thanksgiving in Accra.

That ceremony was led by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Sunday’s Service at UPSA will be led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Guests are expected to be clad in all-white for the ceremony, which is themed: ‘NPP@30: Our Shared Tradition: Holding And Working Together A Stable And Prosperous Nation’.

Since its establishment in 1992 from the stables of the United Party of the Second Republic, the NPP has scraped to four wins in the Fourth Republic.

The party managed to win the 2000 elections to come to power for the first time in the Republic.

It was then led by John Agyekum Kufuor, who was re-elected in 2004, ending a straight two-term administration.

The party, however, lost the 2008 elections with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as its Presidential Candidate but in 2016 he managed to break the jinx by securing power.
