President Akufo-Addo Receives 6th Honorary Doctorate Degree From UHAS

Today, Monday, 29th July 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo received his sixth honourary doctorate degree, this time an Honourary Doctor of Science Degree from the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).

This accolade is not just a testament to his individual achievements, but also a reflection of the collective efforts and progress of his administration and the Ghanaian people.

Today also marks the commissioning of Phase II of UHAS, a significant milestone that will enhance the university’s capacity to train more health professionals and support cutting-edge research.

This expansion is crucial in bridging the gap between our nation’s healthcare needs and the available skilled workforce.

Under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership, Ghana has seen substantial advancements in the health sector, with GH¢33 billion invested in healthcare infrastructure since 2017.

These investments have led to the construction and upgrade of numerous hospitals, polyclinics, and health facilities across the country, significantly improving healthcare delivery.

Some 202,527 medical personnel (comprising 12,132 medical officers, house officers and specialists; 165,272 diploma and degree nurses and midwives; 8,688 support staff including administrative managers, cooks and executive officers; 1,303 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians; 80 medical herbalists; and 13,471 allied health professionals and allied health interns) have been recruited since 2017.
