There is a need for a reset including football- Sports Minister
Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams, has stated that there is an urgent need for a rest in sports particularly in football.
He said this in a briefing to the press after meeting the Interim Management Committee of Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the wake of Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong’s death.
Pooley’s death took place reportedly during the Nsoatreman FC- Kumasi Asante Kotoko Ghana Premier League Week 19 match at Nsoatre.
Several high stakes meetings have taken place since the unfortunate incident including the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ghana Police Service, Ghana Premier League teams and club supporters with the Minister’s meeting with Kotoko being the latest.
“We have reached a point where all of us including the GFA must come to the realization that there is the need for a reset; a reset in everything which includes our sports and our football. That is what I gathered from my engagement with Kotoko IMC and supporters. In a nutshell, I think it’s been a fruitful engagement.”
Kofi Adams recently officially replaced Mustapha Ussif as Sports Minister.
