V/R: Police probes mysterious disappearance of body parts from Dzodze morgue
Police in the Ketu North District of the Volta Region have arrested five persons suspected to be involved in the disappearance of body parts of corpses deposited at the St. Anthony’s Hospital Morgue in Dzodze.
According to reports, the bodies had their eyes plucked out.
One of the relatives of a deceased person at the morgue, John Ziga, complained about the incident to Citi News.
His report was one of three similar incidents allegedly recorded at the morgue.
The Diocesan Health Service director, responsible for the ST. Anthony’s Hospital, Rev. Fr. Lt. Col. WDK Sraha said they suspect rodents may be responsible for the missing body parts even though human involvements are not being ruled out.
“We are only hoping that we are able to get some more clues to be able to see if the clues can lead us to unravel the mystery surrounding what has happened.”
“This thing could be human activity and could also be rodents activity,” he added.
The assemblyman for the area, Chris Tornyo, said the community had been left in shock especially with reports of a third body losing its parts.
“This is not the first time such an incident is taking place. As a community, for now, we are relying on the police for investigations,” he said.
The Ketu North Police Commander, Christian Dogbatse has since assured that the police are doing all within their powers to unravel the mystery.
