Assistant Head teacher slaps student for laughing at…

A 15-year-old student, identified as Diana Mensah, has been assaulted by the Assistant Head master of academics at the Nkwatia Presby Senior High School in the Eastern Region for allegedly leaving school premises without exeat.

Speaking to metro news, Uncle of the student, identified as Emmanuel Agyapong explained that his niece left school premises with exeat to pick up provisions he had sent. The student, Diana Mensah who met the Assistant Headmaster of academics upon her return to the school premises was asked to lie on the floor with some other students and subsequently flocked to the contentment of the Assistant Head, who has been identified as Derrick Abu Yeboah.

Derrick Abu Yeboah furthermore singled out Diana Mensah, accused her of mocking him and slapped her across her face landing right on her eyes. This left her partially blind.

Emmanuel Agyapong, the uncle of the assaulted student lamented that the school authorities failed to give proper medical attention to Diana Mensah after the physical assault.

“After the teacher assaulted my niece, she was kept in the school for a week without taking her to the hospital while her eyes deteriorate and the school authorities were in the known that her eyes were deteriorating from the slap. She was only instructed to go to the school nurse and was given paracetamol. The surprising aspect is that the headmistress said my niece is a stubborn child so she will not be attended to”

Asked what his next line of action would be, Emmanuel Agyapong said that “Diana Mensah is currently responding to treatment, after this phase I will know my next line of action”.
He also confirmed to Metro News that a complained have been lodged at the Nkwatia Police station.
