Man Sentenced to 30 Years Imprisonment for Robbery and Causing Harm

The Denu Circuit Court on 9th April 2024 sentenced Desenu Kossi,36 years old and a resident at Beat 13, a suburb of Aflao, to 30 years imprisonment for robbery and causing harm.

Desenu Kossi appeared before the court for stabbing the lower abdomen of Madam Kumazah Juliet and forcefully taking off her Dodo Smartphone valued at Ghc 800.00.

The court, presided by His Honor Joseph Behome, sentenced the accused to 10 years imprisonment for causing harm and 30 years for robbery after he pleaded guilty to the two counts. The terms are to run concurrently.

The facts presented by the investigator, D/ INSPR. Gabriel Damadzi said the victim and complaint, Kumazah Juliet is a food vendor and a resident at Beat 9. On 30/3/2025, about 5:00am, the complainant was on her way to collect cooking oil from one Grace at Huime but on reaching a section of the road near a garden, the accused emerged with a knife and demanded the complainant to stop and threatened to harm her if she did not comply.

Suddenly, the accused attempted to snatch her mobile phone, but she resisted, and in the process, the accused stabbed her in the lower abdomen and made away with her mobile phone.

Later, the complaint lodged a complaint at the Aflao Police Station and was issued a medical form to attend hospital for treatment.

On 06/04/2025, the complainant spotted the accused in her area and raised the alarm. With the assistance of her neighbors, they were able to arrest the accused and handed him over to the police.

Investigations revealed he sold the mobile phone to an unknown person at a cost of Ghc 150.00

Meanwhile, the complainant has been treated and discharged and is currently in good condition.
