NPP faithful throng Bawumia residence to encourage him and pledge support

Hundreds of New Patriotic Party faithful have been at the official residence to visit Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the NPP in the just-ended 2024 general election, to pledge their support and to encourage him after his unsuccessful bid for the presidency.

Dr Bawumia lost the 2024 presidential election to John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on 7 December in voting which recorded the lowest turnout (60.9%) since 2000.

He polled 4,657,304 of the valid votes cast, representing 41%, while John Mahama secured 6,328,397 valid votes, representing 56.55%.

Addressing guests when they visited him today (Tuesday 10 December), Dr Bawumia urged all members of the NPP not to indulge in blame games but to unite and be encouraged for the future.

Dr Bawumia, who was speaking to a first group of visiting party members, from the Klottey Korle and Ayawaso East constituencies of the Greater Accra Region, said the statistical reading of the 2024 presidential election clearly showed that the NPP gave away victory to the NDC.

Other visiting constituency parties from Trobu and Weija-Gbawe, also in Greater Accra, took turns to express solidarity with the vice-president and NPP presidential candidate.

The atmosphere was charged and party members were in high spirits as they sang in the garden of the residence, blowing vuvuzelas.

Dr Bawumia called on the NPP rank and file to remain optimistic, saying he will continue to look up to God because the ways of man are not those of God.

He added that his faith and trust are in God and he is convinced that all things work together for good for those what believe in God.

The NPP parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, speaking on behalf of the delegation members, declared that they have confidence in the leadership of Dr Bawumia and that even though the NPP did not get what it wanted out of the 2024 general election, they “still believe everything is possible”.
