Reopen investigations into Airbus Scandal not just the Cecilia Dapaah scandal – Mahama told

National Youth Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha has reacted swiftly to John Mahama’s promise to reopen investigations into allegations of corruption and money laundering against Cecilia Dapaah, the former Minister of  Sanitation.

For Salam Mustapha, it would be prudent that Former President John Mahama, if he becomes President again reopen not just the case involving Cecilia Dapaah but the case about the purchase of Airbus aircraft( the Airbus Scandal) in which he( former President John Mahama) is allegedly involved neck-deep.

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) had, in a social media post, pledged to look into the Cecilia Dapaah case if the NDC wins the 2024 General Elections. His promise came after the Attorney General and Minister of Justice told the Economic and Organized Crime Office(EOCO) that they had no basis to investigate Ms Cecelia Dapaah and her husband over corruption and money-laundering allegations since the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) made no adverse findings against them.

In reaction, Salam Mustapha reminded the President of the Airbus Scandal and asked him to consider reopening it together with the Cecilia Dapaah case in the unlikely event that he becomes President again.

“Dear John Mahama

In the event of your most unlikely return to office. Kindly, reopen an investigation into the scandalous and nefarious Airbus GO1 scandal which you’re directly accused of along side Mad. Cecelia Dapaah. In that case, we will hold your balls to the fire sir. Bo room for cheap politics!” Salam Mustapha wrote.

The Airbus Scandal basically arises from a Crown Court judgement against Airbus SE in 2020 which noted that the Serious Fraud Office found that Airbus officials bribed influential persons in Ghana and other countries to secure aircraft purchase deals. In the Specific case of Ghana, even though no names were given, the period of the purchase( 2011 to 2015) and the narrations seem to suggest that John Mahama may have been involved in the bribery saga.
